Here is a collection of my favourite parenting resources.  All the resources on this page are child-friendly and pro-attachment.  Included are mini-reviews, links to my longer reviews and the resource’s own page.

Brain, Child Magazine. A literary magazine full of critical thinking around the difficult issues of motherhood.  Lots of personal essays, no how-to articles.  Review of Brain, Child.

How to Talk so Kids Will Listen, and Listen so Kids Will Talk. This classic parenting book by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish is a good introduction to the basics of non-violent communication and active listening skills.  Review of How to Talk so Kids Will Listen.

Mothering Magazine. A parenting magazine that supports the Natural Family Living and Attachment Parenting lifestyles.  Another good resource is the message forums at Mothering.comReview of Mothering Magazine.

Playful Parenting.  A parenting book by Lawrence J. Cohen that focuses on the importance of play for children, including practical tips on using play to help parents strengthen their bond with their child.  Review of Playful Parenting.

Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves.  This excellent book by Naomi Aldort focuses on gentle discipline and how parents can use love and nurturing instead of control when raising children.  Review of Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves

The Gifts of Imperfect Parenting Audio CDs.  Recordings of a lecture series by Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW, that cover the effects of using shame as a parenting tool and the ten qualities that shame-resistant people share. Review of The Gifts of Imperfect Parenting Audio CDs.

The Happiest Toddler on the Block.  Dr Harvey Karp describes how to deal with toddler tantrums without spanking.  Review of The Happiest Toddler on the Block.
